Apologia General Science 1.2

Two identical glasses--one filled with cold water, the other with steaming hot water.  

This is experiment 1.2

Add one drop of blue food coloring into each glass.  Immediately the hot water glass circulated the dye around the jar, but the cold water's drop didn't move much at all.

This experiment is showing us how there are ATOMS inside water, and how the hot water's atoms are moving much faster than the cold water atoms.  After a while the cold water did turn blue, just not nearly as fast at the hot water jar's did.
