This was a pretty good week. This was our third week on King Arthur, and we were sad to see it end. We had a Language Arts focused week; instead of science. We are really enjoying learning about the early Christians. This week, my favorite place we learned about was in Cappadocia, Turkey.
We've been watching two DVD's that I checked out from our library; and they have both been really great. The first one, I've watched twice so far: Drive Thru History:Holy Lands, Bethlehem to Caesarea: Miracles, Messiah, and the Roman Empire. This series, the "Drive Through History" series is pretty popular, and I especially like this set, the most I've seen from their series.
Drive Thru History with David Stotts #3: Miracles, Messiah and the Roman Empire DVD, From Bethlehem to CaesareaThe second DVD (2 in set) are even more detailed than the first, but it is six hours and I've only seen 2-3 hours so far, but we will be watching more of it this month. It is called: Ancient Roads From Christ to Constantine. This is the dvd that showed us all about Cappadocia, Turkey, among other prominent locations. I really feel like these two sets have given me the visuals to go along with the book materials we've been reading.
On the home front; I spent many hours this week painting the sun-room and kitchen. I finished up the halls and stairwells, and then it was time to bring in the Christmas decorations. Due to Dd's new kitty, we needed to put up the tree in the sun-room b/c we could close the doors and keep it safe in there. Agnes, the new kitty, is quite the active and attacking-type of kitty. So, I had to kick my painting up to first gear to get the sun-room finished quickly so Dd could get her Christmas thing going on. She was super-excited to get our old Christmas decorations out asap, as last year, in the apartment, we didn't have ANY of our normal things, as they were packed up in our garage in Indiana. We bought a small tree and made decorations for it, and that was lovely, but 'not the same'. I'm so glad this year she can have all her normal Christmas things around her!
Dd has been enjoying her sax, but also her violin this week. She really wants to get violin lessons. But, right now we are doing choir and band and that is enough for now. We will keep our eyes open for any doors that may open in that front. Her band and choir will be having a special Christmas performance coming up before Christmas, and she is looking forward to that.

We are taking longer on our Veritas Press section on Job that they had scheduled, but I like to read as much as we can until we are ready to go on.

King Arthur and His Knights-by-narrated by Stewart Langton.
It took is three weeks to listen to this version, and REALLY enjoyed these stories!! Howard Pyle's version was so much more detailed and vibrant. Sonlight scheduled us to read Andrew Lang's version, and I did read it, but found Pyle's version better. This audio is 10 hours and 55 minutes, but is a lot of fun to listen to, especially when your making dinner or hanging ornaments on a tree!

(After we started this book, I realized our schedule was skipping the Viking---so, we will kind of step back after this book to study them.)
We are really liking The Hidden Treasure of Gaston, but one of the funny things is that we are re-listening to The Secret Garden, where one of the main characters is "Dicken" and there is also a "Dicken" in The Hidden Treasure of Gaston! How odd.

The Cappadocians are the same people/place that Dd and I really were drawn to in the DVD's we were watching (Ancient Roads From Christ to Constantine), it is always great when our lessons cross each other at the same place.

Math:
Math U See: Algebra I, 7A, B, C, D, E, and the test for 7 from the test book, but Dd did NOT pass. She is going to re-do Lesson 7 again. This week she did the Twelve Family for skip-counting.

We listen to this every two years, this is just a great audio to hear over and over again! I use to play it to my Dd to give her examples of acting like a Raja, and teach some humility and kindness. Now, we just listen to it because it is so good!

I don't think Dd read any 'extra's' this week. She was working on her stories (her short stories) each night.
Dh said he had never made a Gingerbread House, and Dd couldn't stand for that! She asked him to make the Gingerbread house with her this year. They had a lot of fun with this kit--it was a Minion Kit! So cute!
