Audio: Into the Woods
Bring Broadway to your home! We checked this audio out from our library...I had a feeling it would be winner, and it really is! I guess you have to like musicals to enjoy this, and I do LOVE musicals!!! This one was a LOT of fun! I definitely felt like we were getting a little culture, arts, and music infused into our day with this audio. I could imagine all the stories in my head, the music was so well done. ETA: Days later, I still keep putting this disc in to hear it again, and again!
ETA: So! I thought this was so good of an audio, that I should check out the DVD that our library has of the 1987 Broadway show (with Bernadette Peters). And I watched it (luckily) alone before showing it to my Dd. Quite early on in the production we meet the Wolf, from the Little Red Riding Hood scene, and the Wolf has on a 'wolf costume"--except--he has human male genitalia, very clearly visible, and distasteful. Being an art major, went to art school...I'm not shy about the human body; but even to me, this seemed 'off' and clearly something that I don't want to expose my Dd to. It was just weird!
I plan on watching the new 2015 version when it comes out on DVD alone, so I can see if Johnny Depp's Wolf is properly dressed or not. I really do like the audio for this show, but I would NOT recommend the DVD to families. Such a shame, too!
