Reminder: We are in the first section of our new "Core" with Sonlight--Core E--which is Part Two of American History. We are currently edging close to the Civil War right now in history and our books/readings are all building up towards that goal.
Besides our SL (Sonlight) work we have our Thursday Co-op classes with our small, intimate hs group: LHE. Dd has 3 classes: 1) Gym 2) Nature in Art (which I teach) and 3) Geography. After the classes we go to the park nearby with many of the group and picnic and socialize/play for a few hours before heading our separate ways. This week AC came home with us, and then joined us as we worked at our church's pantry called : The Giving Tree. Then we took her to meet up with her family at her brother's football practice. This was one LONG day. Then on Friday, we had to set our alarms again to rise and shine early to get to the "Feast of the Hunter's Moon" event in Lafayette, IN. This event was beyond cool! I had a great time!! You will see a post that I've already posted previous to this one that shows pictures and gives a little more detail about that event.

Finished! We really enjoyed this book about a little Amish girl, Hannah, who found out why being a Friend is special and something to be proud of. We already have adopted the phrase "Listening to 'Old Spotty' into our family dialog. Unfortunately or fortunately I don't know any children that couldn't relate to how the main character fought her temptation over and over again. We could really relate to her plight. Hannah, is the main character and is 9 years old. She lives with her large family in Philadelphia just before the Civil War. She is called to an alley on day while walking on the street by a runaway slave. Her family, Quakers, are very helpful to the Underground Railroad and runaway slaves. This book was very hard for us to stop at each chapter. We wanted to read it through without stopping!!Math:
