Core F -- Week 1
We finally got back in our routine!! We began Core F! Short description of Core F from Sonlight (SL):
This beloved Core is unique among Sonlight programs. Its subject matter stands out from homeschool programs available anywhere.
Where else can you get a full year's exploration of Asia, the Middle
East, Africa and the South Pacific? A huge percentage of the world's
population calls the Eastern Hemisphere home. Ninety percent of all
unevangelized people live there. If we want our children to understand
this increasingly interconnected globe, if we want them to embrace God's
heart for the whole world, let's journey to the East!
We've prepared a rich year of adventure and discovery for you and
your kids. I've lost track of all the customers who say this is their
favorite year. As one mom said last year, "What an utterly fabulous,
not-to-be-missed adventure Core F is! It is my new favorite Core." Will
it be yours too?
Core F is perfect for 11-, 12- and 13-year-olds and advanced
10-year-olds. But I wouldn't be surprised if the entire family wants to
listen in!
Our week:
We are breaking all sorts of rules this year--we are not doing SL bible; but giving Veritas Press (VP) our undivided attention: Veritas Bible Genesis through Joshua Homeschool Kit with CD.
We started this program during Core E; but it was hard to go between SL and VP so I just decided to stick with SL for bible and fit in Apologia's: Who is My Neighbor? Who Is My Neighbor is easier to pick up and put down without any problems.
This week we studied Genesis 15-17: God's Covenant with Abraham
We read Romans 4, Hebrews 11, Galatians 3
The books we used along with program are:
Believer's Bible Commentary [BELIEVERS BIBLE COMMENTARY -SS] [Hardcover] by W.(Author) ; MacDonald, William(Author); Farstad, Arthur L.
The Greenleaf Guide To Old Testament History by Rob G. Shearer and Cyndy A. Shearer
David C. Cook Journey through the Bible by V. Gilbert Beers

We also read other SL books; but I don't think I'll mention each thing today. This is just an overview. We started up slowly, and didn't do many extra's since we had 3 days of going out of the house to do 'extra's' and weren't home most of the day. Seeing Dr. Jay Wile (of Apologia's Science) wasn't even on my agenda last week--and here we went and saw him!
Audio:
The Quest Begins (Seekers, Book 1) by Erin Hunter
Activities:
Tuesday: Swim & Gym started back! Every Tuesday, for 8 weeks, Dd will enjoy a Gym class, followed by a Lifeguarding class.
Wednesday: we went to a Creation Expo where we say Dr. Jay Wile present a lecture. You might know his name from Apologia's Science books. He gave a presentation of Symbiotic Relationships found in Nature.
