Children's Museum 8-15-12

We had a good time at the Children's Museum this week.  We were excited to see the Hot Wheels exhibit.  I was really surprised to see so many 5 and under kids there.  There were NO older kids...surprising to me and Dd!

We had a great time at the Science Lab and Science Port, as always.  John, our science guy was there today.  I like when we have the same person and they know us.  He invited us into the lab 20 minutes early b/c he knows how we like to spend time at the stereo microscopes.  We had a good time looking through all the slides before the class started.

Hot Wheels:

I won't add all the pictures I took of Dd making the Biodegradable Corn Plastic experiment--though I really want to.  I will put a post just about how you can do it next b/c it was so much fun that when we got home that was the first thing Dd wanted to do--make more!!

After the microscopes, the experiment, seeing the Indiana salamanders in the tank, and the various growing projects we finally left.  Then we went to the Science Port.  The theme today was another "Flying Adventures" day.  We have already done these experiments, but did them again.  The 'coolest' part for Dd is the remote control computer simulation of a plane taking off.  The player gets to pick which plane they are going to fly, then they have to set all the controls correctly as the plane takes off.  It took Dd a while last time we were here to get her planes to take off; but this time she was a pro.

We had to ride the carousel one time before heading to the gift shop.  Dd is always on the look-out for some of her favorite Star Wars people and she never finds them---low and behold--there they were!!  Oh course, b/c the price tag was about twice what we normally pay!! By golly!  I got her the three with the agreement that she couldn't see them anymore, they were going in the bag and then placed AWAY.  I don't know if they will be Christmas gifts, or a reward for finishing Math U See Delta (one prize) or what--but I just couldn't NOT get them after looking for them for over a year at every Wal Mart and store that has Star Wars characters.  It is very hard to find the female characters--I don't know the names of these female characters--but there is a hint of who we found.  One was a Princess Leia that was a rare one.

Once again we had a good time at the Children's Museum, if for only the Science Lab.  That place is so much fun.  But, I can see how we are getting a little old for it this year.  The kids seemed so young on this visit; and I don't normally have that feeling.  My Dd is growing up.
