Apologia General Science Experiment: 1.4 Eclipse
Items needed: cardboard, push-pins (for the paper to be tacked down to the cardboard), pencil, 8 inches of yarn or string...Dd had fun wearing her science goggles, but that is just for fun!
The yarn is fully extended, the push pins are holding the yard down on the end of the yarn. Dd is following the yard from one side to the other. |
Now Dd is moving the push pin farther into the yarn--going in about 1-2 inches |
Now Dd is drawing the line from one side to the other, on the shorter yarn |
Done! We finished and did get two eclipses from this experiment. This experiment was comparing this to how the planets also don't form a circle, but an eclipse as they travel. |
