Hello Friends, another week done! This week had a lot of "life" involved in it. Both Dh and I both had medical issues, doctor interactions, and a bit of stress over all of that! Thankful some things are behind us. Even with my new meds I've had three migraines this week, and gave more independent work to Dd this week than usual due to my health limitations this week.

Remember last week when we had the "Spruce" house inspected, and the inspector said the heat pump didn't work? Well, Dh had a professional go out there and he said the heat pump DOES work! So, we will be able to take the next step and move forward next week with all the paperwork. For the first time, I am settling in on the idea of moving again and looking forward to the challenge of totally cleaning up that house! I can't wait to get out my vinegar/water spray bottle and go crazy!!! We are going to pull up all the old carpeting and clean every inch of the house!!! I can't wait!

Some weeks are a Story of the World week, and some are Mystery of History weeks, this was a Story of the World week--- I was hoping to fit in some BiblioPlan this week, but that just wasn't in the cards (unfortunately).

Busy Hands:

Dd made a new 'slouch hat'

This has been a busy hands week for Dd. She made herself a new "slouchy hat" since she couldn't find the one she made a few months back. She is also working on my Mother's Day gift---arm warmers in the style of Downtown Abbey! She started with some light blue yarn, and then decided that wasn't 'right' and now has some lively colors mixed up for her new version. I'll get some pictures up soon. ETA: she decided the newest version isn't 'right' either...this project is being difficult! Dd did a soap carving project with the Mockingjay bird as her goal; see pictures at the top of this post. This week, due to me being 'under the weather', meant Dd had more time to do her archery in the woods, and spend extra time doing "Nitro Type" in the morning. It has been really fun watching her improve!

**We are still not enjoying this book, and are really surprised it is a "SL book" since it seems to be SO geared toward 'worldly' or public school teens. I am not sure if we will continue to read it or not....I might give it another chapter, but really if it wasn't a SL book I would have given it up sooner. So.not.impressed.**

Here is a Goldfinch, but we've had a Rose Breasted Grosbeak (male) come to our feeder each day this week! Plus, the mallard duck couple has also been coming regularly too....and don't forget the ever-present squirrels!

We were going to study Queen Boudicca, so I checked YouTube to see what they had on her, and found these two video's --- which were VERY informative, and appropriate.

Boudicca was queen of the Iceni people of Eastern England and led a major uprising against occupying Roman forces.

Boudicca was married to Prasutagus, ruler of the Iceni people of East Anglia. When the Romans conquered southern England in AD 43, they allowed Prasutagus to continue to rule. However, when Prasutagus died the Romans decided to rule the Iceni directly and confiscated the property of the leading tribesmen. They are also said to have stripped and flogged Boudicca and raped her daughters. These actions exacerbated widespread resentment at Roman rule.

In 60 or 61 AD, while the Roman governor Gaius Suetonius Paullinus was leading a campaign in North Wales, the Iceni rebelled. Members of other tribes joined them.

Boudicca's warriors successfully defeated the Roman Ninth Legion and destroyed the capital of Roman Britain, then at Colchester. They went on to destroy London and Verulamium (St Albans). Thousands were killed. Finally, Boudicca was defeated by a Roman army led by Paulinus. Many Britons were killed and Boudicca is thought to have poisoned herself to avoid capture. The site of the battle, and of Boudicca's death, are unknown.
