Sept. 22-16, 2014

We've finished our 5th Week at Core G

Some weeks are harder for me than others; and this was a very hard week indeed!  I guess with all the exercising and hiking from the week before; I have brought my immune system down.  We were able to do a fairly normal week on our lessons, but I was sick (and got worse each day) throughout.  I have been praying for my health to return soon, and I decided it is time to find a doctor here! ETA: Ended up having to go to the ER to get an IV with meds to slow down the migraine, and stop the vomiting/retching...ugh.

Another disappointment this week was that the auto that I drive, that we drove to Indiana, has something wrong with the steering mechanism.  So, Dd and I were totally home-bound this week---no library, no grocery shopping, and no parks to take a walk in.  Our auto is scheduled to go into the shop on Tuesday, and I do hope they can fix it quickly and hopefully not too expensive. 

Paid rent yesterday for our apartment; which I didn’t think I would still be here for October!  There still have been no offers for our house in Indiana.  The Lord must have a very specific plan for us…just wish I knew what it was!  The good news is that I am feeling less confined in the apartment.  I am getting use to living in such a super small apartment—finally!

Dh’s job has gotten a lot harder the past two weeks.  He is back to working late every night; and as a matter of fact they are having him work both Sat. and Sun. this week.  He would have refused to do that at his previous job, so it says something that he is willing to do it here…and without a fuss.  He is doing a good job keeping his attitude positive even when they are asking him to do the impossible.  I have to admit that it would be easier to adjust to our new life here; IF his job was doing better.  They are a new company and have too many gaps that need to be bridged.  This growth is happening; but it is hard work!

We aren't moving forward with our Sonlight Core G until we read a bit more on Ancient Egypt---we do go at our own pace! and I still have some books that we haven't even started yet.  I actually have too many books and will have to pick which ones I feel most lead to read.

(I am really, really liking this book! So far they are going through the Kingdoms in science, and how they got split up and by who--so it is part history too. I find science things to much easier to remember when I hear the whole story; which is what Tiner is doing!)

Dd has finally succumbed to the call of Ranger's Apprentice!  Our friends, the "L" family children are mad about this series, and they very much piqued her interest.  She is plowing through this book very quickly.  She has even read me a few chapters aloud.
