Spruce Painting Nov. 20- Dec 4, 2015

Spruce Painting
Nov. 20- Dec 4, 2015

The kitchen has some weird designs in it.  It was interesting figuring out how to reach this top section when there is a big island that made it impossible to move the ladder to the middle section.  I did get it all eventually.

This week I finished the kitchen, both stair-wells, and the sun-room!  I had first painted the rooms with "Kilz" a really great sealer that locks in any smells or colors from before.  Then I painted both the rooms with our standard "coconut cream" color.  I know it is kind of boring to have such plain colored walls, but I plan on getting lots of our paintings up on the walls soon, and the plain background won't be so boring then.

Painting the top of the shelving was quite tricky!  But, getting rid of this yellow-caramel paint made such a difference.  You can see the old color in this picture best.  The old paint just made the kitchen feel so dark and gloomy.

This ladder was SO helpful!  This poor kitchen was such a disaster for days while I tried to get all the painting done...

The sunroom is finally finished!  The tree is still being decorated though...  I had to use the big, tallest ladder to reach the tip-top.  This is the 'coconut cream' color.  Actually the previous color was only a few shades darker, so this room didn't feel as different as the kitchen did.

Dd quickly got her Christmas tree, up, and protected!

The top of the stairwell to Dd's room.  She was SO excited that I got her stairwell looking much more "finished".  I still have to paint the steps with the 'stone' finish paint and polyurethane; but her walls are finally done.

Stairwell to the loft- I'd first pulled the carpet up, then Kilzed the floor, then Kilzed the walls, now I have painted the walls with the "coconut cream" wall paint.  Lastly, I need to paint the floors with the "stone"...hopefully soon?

The stairwell to the basement---I'd first pulled the carpet up, then Kilzed the floor, then Kilzed the walls, now I have painted the walls with the "coconut cream" wall paint.  Lastly, I need to paint the floors with the "stone"...hopefully soon?

Dd really wanted a yellow kitchen, and we made a compromise--we gave her one yellow wall in the kitchen.  The color was a bit brighter than we hoped...but it is cheery!

Now that we finished painting the sun-room we could bring in the Christmas tree and start bringing out our decorations!  Dd was super excited to get our normal Christmas decorations out, as last year they were all packed up and we had to go a Christmas without our normal things...which was sad!  So glad our tree and decoration all back!
