Sick Week- Rough Week

| I opened the garage to let the one year old chickens visit our month old chickens (the AmberLink and Tetra Browns)! The older chickens were only interested in stealing some of that straw! They grabbed a few bites and ran out! |

Monday Dh was so sick he stayed home and we tried to take care of him. He was so sick on Saturday and Sunday and still wasn't any better on Monday. We had our weekly violin lesson in the afternoon with Christie went really well again! I'm SO glad we found her. Dd isn't trying to become a fantastic violin player, her goal is to get accepted into the Intermediate Orchestra class in the fall next year. That goal is looking possible! Listening to the violin practices at home are getting so much more bearable! There were a few weeks that were sketchy as I really think her playing took a nose-dive when the other teacher conflicted with her.
Tuesday was my worst day and I actually spent most of the day in bed. Thankfully I had just bought a new Agatha Christie book (Dead Man's Folly). I was able to do a few things with Dd, but really didn't have anything to give.

Wednesday was "band day", and I didn't have much more energy---probably less! I brought Dd in for her Beginning Band (Tenor Sax) class, but then went back out to my car as I couldn't keep my eyes open! I slept out in the car! I was THAT tired! Dd's piano lesson with Mrs. March went well, and they are planning on some new piano books. I woke up in time to volunteer my services during Intermediate Band (Alto Sax), and enjoyed hearing the band play! They are doing a Lord of the Rings song that they are just doing a terrific job! I have to share that we heard a Red-Winged Blackbird in a tree outside the HomeSchool Building!

| Growing up I had a sweet Guinea pig that I named "Love." I gave Dd a stuffed animal that we found that looked just like Love, but Agnes thinks it is *her* baby! Agnes, time and again, brings Love to the cat bed to snuggle. I've never had a cat that keeps a stuffed animal as hers. |

| I put in one of the bigger chicks(TetraBrown) to mingle with the smaller chicks and they all got along well. There are the two ducks laying down, the two Isa Browns standing in front of the ducks, and the two Bantams standing on the left side. It is amazing to see how much of a size difference in chicks just two weeks older. |
Thursday was another rough day that Dd was left to do most of her work alone, but I did get my "sick book" completed! I enjoyed Dead Man's Folly, and it made being sick tolerable. In the evening Dd and I went to the Strings Group at church. Sarah had loaned Dd her ukelele, and Dd really grasped the details quickly. When Sarah came in this week she asked to trade the ukelele for a larger one, I think a "Tenor" ukelele. Another woman at church asked Sarah to borrow that small one, so now Dd is playing a different ukelele. I had a great time singing hymns while the musicians played their instruments. I had been fighting a headache all day, and by the end of the practice, I felt so much better!!!

Thursday night/Friday morning Dh got really sick. We took care of him and took him to the doctor. He is still sick. We didn't get much homework done on Friday, as the doctor and all that goes with it took up so much time. She worked independently a bit and got a little bit accomplished.

I had scheduled for us to do all of our Apologia Experiments for Module 4 this week, and did not get any done! Not one! I had quite a few things scheduled that didn't get done, and that is always a bummer.

| Hoping this might be one of our last snows, but I know that is impossible because we do live in Michigan and winter is ever so long. Relatives in Indiana have already enjoyed banquets of yellow daffadills, but we are weeks away from that! |
Bible:
Walking With Frodo by Sarah Arthur
We really like this book. I am surprised each day at the correlations between LOTR and the bible! I would never think of the connections, but once they are brought up, it makes perfect sense.

HISTORY:
Since MOH, SOTW, and BP all include different aspects of history, we try to include all three sources. In some ways, it is good that I never seem to balance them at the same point in history b/c then we keep getting a refresher on things we read or heard a few weeks back. We have the opportunity for reinforcement with random historical events, which make it a little more likely that those things will be remembered. If I had to do over---I wish I would have listened to the SOTW audio's earlier in our homeschooling. We did listen to them, but we never made it through the whole series. It would be easier if we were only listening to MOH and reading BP. We listen to SOTW and MOH while driving, and don't necessarily schedule it in pen.

| It is funny to think how similar these two breeds were two weeks ago! The Tetra Browns only had that little patch of brown on their backs, like a chipmunk. |

| I moved the Tetra and AmberLinks out to the garage, so they can have more space. They know run from one end of the tractor to the other end in lightning speed. They are colder out in the garage, but seem to really be enjoying the space. |
