June 7, 2013 Garden Updates

June 7, 2013 --Garden Updates

On the other side of the fence are the hay bales that Dd uses for her Archery practice--we took one bale for our garden and are due to replace it soon!

You can see the 4 rows of peppers, and the random "mess" of strawberries.

5 Tomato plants--really hard to see in the grass clippings, last night we placed a big triangle fence around them to stop the rabbits from eating the leaves--so there will be a better defined pix next time.

5 tomato plants on the right of the compost---the bottom corner one has been nibbled on by a rabbit--I'm going to have to build a new(better/more protected) cage for it and the one in front of it--poor thing.  The cage there now did not stop the rabbit; obviously!

I counted 29 pepper plants---green, red, and yellow varieties, that we planted.

9 tomato plants

3 tomato plants next to a pile of compost and cut grass to work into our soil.

2 tomato plants with bricks marking them (the color on this pix is off)....I know it looks tacky; but those bricks really help me see where the plants are when they are small and we are still working the areas a lot and I am walking in there a lot---I would hate to step on a plant!

In the white fence, and in the raised, hay mound are the peas---I think we will be able to harvest some this weekend.

I planted Sweet Basil behind the fennel (on the left), there are two celery on the right.  With seeds, some times the seeds come up and some times they don't--so we will wait and see.  I need to move the Lamb's Ear out--they volunteered to move into my garden!

You can see the tallest stuff with the yellow tops, that reaches the tops of the fence, in our garden---that is Parsnips!! That grew from last years foliage.  We are going to take it out and use that area for new things soon.  We still have a lot of work to do on this "Left Side" of our garden.

We had a big batch of Collard Greens on Wednesday night--it is the darker green.

We are having so much fun!
