We have finished Week 6 of the IG for Core 3. I saw on the SL forum site that the names of the cores are going to be changed very soon; so 'Core 3' will soon be outdated.
We have been working our IG one week following the IG and one week to do our electives. We zoom through our IG each year; but needed extra help doing our science, LA, math, spelling, ETC, handwriting.
We enjoyed Core K, 1, and 2 without doing many "left-over's weeks". We had about 1 Left-Over Week(LOW) per every 3 or 4 weeks. Now we are alternating between the IG and Electives. We are usually still in a SL book during our LOW and will keep on reading that. This way, we can also read more historical books that go along with our time period. For example, we read "The Birchbark House" during a LOW.
We have been enjoying some audio books this last 2 weeks. First we started "The Secret Garden" in the van; and brought it inside to listen to while we worked in the kitchen making cookies for our Lighthouse Home Educators Co-op. Then when we got back in the van; we needed a new story since our current disc was inside. So, we started "Matilda" by Roald Dahl. I can't imagine how many time we have listened to this story.....many!
This week is our final all-out-effort of a week. Mon. we have a playdate/exercise date at the Plainfield Rec. Tue. we have "Aqua Athlete's" at Plainfield Rec. Wed. We have a 9 am Science -Blast-Fundamentals class at BPL. Then on Thu. I have a dentist appt AT 8 am!! Eek! that's early. Then our LHE Co-op from 9-1. Then on Fri. we have HBHE Gym class. We use to rarely have one activity a week. This week we have SIX!
Eric, Puddin, and I spent a few hours today playing Lego's. Now Eric and Puddin are planting spring seeds (spinach, I believe).
I am trying to prepare myself for this busy week!
After growing up going to FDL, I decided to name my homeschool (like my daughter) after the place I learned the most from. Sharing what books we've added into each SL core, by Core and Week. I'm also sharing our events with family and friends who check in on us here. If nothing else, I'm keeping a great, though epic, transcript of my Dd's education! May the good Lord bless and keep each of you, whether near or far away!
