Eagle Creek Park May 1, 2014

Eagle Creek Park
May 1, 2014
with some of our friends, part of the "L" family

Thursday was a great day for a hike--53 degrees, cloudy, and crisp!  The good or bad news was that I didn't see one bug--no insects were out at all!  We had a BEAVER run across the road while we were still in our car, looking for the right place to park.  It was great seeing the beaver, it stopped in the grass and allowed us to look at it!

There was a major change in the trees in one week.  Last week I barely saw a leaf, and this week practically all the trees had leaves!!!  Green, Green, and more Green!

We saw a beaver, algae puddles, Dogwood & Redwood trees in bloom, a deer skeleton, a huge and massive Sycamore tree, geese, another egg in the water, and we found ourselves having a merry time together!

Four "L's" and two of us---Dd is in the camo coat and tan hat.

I had just been saying how I missed woodpeckers, then the same day we see this wonderful Pileated Woodpecker!

A fine example of erosion

"R" found this deer skeleton.  It was missing it's two front legs, and some of the rib cage.

We are drawn to bridges and water!

These are just two examples of the footprints I took pictures of; it is so fun to see who has stepped in our path before we came by.

We saw some beautiful Dogwood blooms-see the white blooms?  And we also saw the Red Bud's blooming their beautiful purple flowers too.

The boys were "rowing"; they are in a ship--can't you see?!  Dd is being the task master, I'm afraid!

Check out this Sycamore tree! HUGE!  It was hollow inside to the dirt, and they hollow all the way up for a long distance.
