Week 7
Nov. 11- 15th 2013
As far as our studies
are concerned we are in Korea! So, we learned quite a bit about Korea this week. Which is fantastic for my Dd; b/c she
is a huge fan of the 1970's tv show: M*A*S*H! It is so weird, I
know...but it is her favorite. So, she was super excited that we were
studying Korea and greatly disappointed it only lasted 1 week!

This
week we spent on a science kit "Giz" had given us--Smithsonian Science
Kit. Dd built a volcano--but she had to make it out of the plaster mold
/ kit first; which was a lot of fun...then she could do the experiments
with the volcano she had made (repeatedly!). Then another morning we
made our "Crystal"...which is still in process...and this one might be a
bit of a dud. I'm not sure what else she did; but my table is covered
with "stuff" and I need to find a way to get it back soon!!! Oh, the
crystal kit was a good excuse to look at the stuff in our stereo
microscope--

Math:
NO
math this week---both Dd and I didn't understand the lesson; and Dh had
serious car trouble and work trouble---and didn't have a minute to
spare for us this week...poor guy...but he did go down to southern
Indiana to go hunting and managed to hunt a 8 point big buck for our
meat this upcoming year. That will be wonderful meat that will last us a
long time! Deer Season (with guns) started on Saturday.
Due
to the car trouble, Dh took the van and Dd and I were without a ride
from Tues through Fri. night! That made things difficult!
Cooking:
Dd made a chicken strips and peas dinner ( I helped a little on the
chicken part). She made a 3-tiered chocolate cake and frosting (from
scratch) all, entirely by herself. I know I am missing another meal she
cooked......

I am continuing to make a goal to get Dd outside as much as I can; and read in the stairwell from 11pm to 12pm (roughly) when the sun is coming in right then; so we can get as much natural sunlight as possible. It is a good thing the neighbors can't see us (me) in my shorts practically tanning myself when all summer I have on my sun protection clothing. I always have on my hats and long pants and long sleeves....not quite fitting in! But, Dd has really been doing a great job playing outside each day; even in the cold weather.
