Dh has been getting the new insulation back into the wall in the basement. |
We rescued two salamanders from our pool this week. |
The bottom salamander had a blood red color, and the smaller one on top was a murky dark color. |

This is my friendship tree (fig tree) that my dear friend Heather L. gave to me on our last trip down to Indiana. Every time I see it, I smile! |
Taking pictures of all the planting I've done this week didn't really turn out well. We dug up little samples of various things in Indiana last Saturday, and then on Monday I transplanted all the plants into various spots around. I'll try to get better pictures later; but this is just an idea. I planted from 9 am to 5 pm...what a back breaking day! |
In the narrow garden area beside the pool, there was a solid layer of gravel to dig through, then I had to get through the clay, and then I could put in new peat moss and the plants. |
This garden where I hang my clothes had really good soil, but was totally covered in a massive ground cover--you can see it down past the asparagus. I was a big job to till the soil to get out all the roots of that messy ground cover. This site has two blackberry bushes, sage (I planted that after I took this picture), two asparagus', and the front section is lined with strawberry plants. I've since put up mesh gating/fence to keep our dog out of it! Actually put a little fence in front of the garden by the pool too. I need to take new pictures of these areas! |
My goal has been to try and fit a few walks out in our woods as often as I can. Words can't describe just how many mushrooms are blooming just now. It is beyond articulation, and you'd have to see it to believe it. |
I couldn't resist taking about 150 pictures of the mushrooms, but I'll only post a few. |

I don't think I posted the new sword Dd made with Grampy's help yet. She made drawings, measurements and all the details of her design and then she and Grampy changed the blade on the band saw and cut it out. It is a really nice piece of wood, super hard and heavy, but I couldn't tell specifically what kind of wood it is. It is a pretty good size; I put my feet in the picture so you could get an idea. |
.......
Oh I love salamanders!!! Luck you! And you are SO blessed to have all those woods all to yourself!! Yes! We can have friendship fig trees!! :)
