Sandhill Crane's on March 7th, 2014 We spent Friday outside, enjoying the gorgeous weather and were treated to an unexpected surprise....Sandhill Crane migration! Groupings are called "siege's" - at least that is what I found when I did an internet search today. I have no idea how many siege's went past us---20? or more, in the 4 hours we were outside. It is hard to image how many birds flew over our area on Friday!
I took a few pictures that weren't very good; and then Dd took some that you can actually make out the birds!!! How does she do that? They are SO UP HIGH! Our camera doesn't have a big zoom; so I don't know how she got such good photo's! Here are a few pictures of the Sandhill Crane's passing over our backyard....which means SPRING is on it's way!!!
Here are a few images I got from the internet - so you can see what they really look like:
Again, I am learning new things. The Sandhill Crane has a very interesting flight formation. You both got some really great photos. It is very difficult to get a photo of birds while they are flying! I really like how I can see the way they stretch their feet out - what a streamline bird when they fly. They are amazing creatures of God.
ReplyDeleteJust flat out appreciating these wonderful creatures you're sharing with us Tracy!
