Core E (American History, Part Two)
Week 34 (Week 34 out of 36 weeks!! Almost done!)
No two weeks are alike, right?! This week was exceptional b/c Dd was invited to a birthday party/ sleep-over on Friday night and she couldn't just buy presents like everyone else (although we did buy presents as well!)---NO! She wanted to make as many gifts by hand to make them extra-special! So, much of our lessons had to pushed to the side, so she could cut, sew, glue and make--while I read our lessons and she created her masterpieces of love and friendship that celebrated her friends birthday!
Our lessons for this week went fine with the exception of the book: In Search of the Source. When I went to find this book on my shelf, to start it on Monday---I was surprised to see I didn't have it!!! GASP! So, I ordered it on Monday morning, and Sonlight processed the order late on Wednesday, and it is due to arrive Tuesday, August 20th! Geesh! that is a long time to wait for a book that you want to start reading immediately! But, that is 'media mail' and slow processing! But, I hear it is a great book.

Men of the Bible-Section on Samson
We use a few different "Know Your Bible" books each day to review what the book we are reading is about, who wrote it, when it was written, is it in the Old Testament or New Testament, any major themes or points to remember from this book.... I don't usually post the book(s) we use as a reference to go along with our bible readings; but I try to do so occasionally in case that might help someone else in their bible study. I'm thinking of switching to VP Bible next Core (F) to do a bit more of an in-depth, slower bible study with our Journey Through the Bible...Still thinking that over though...

This is a "Duct Tape Purse" actually it is pretty large.
Dd turned this into a pillow at the end; and I didn't get a picture of it in it's final stage. |

Eagle Creek Reservoir Hike
Hikes & Walks--with the weather being so terrific this week; we went for walks on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday mornings! Our dog was happy to go along with us. Then on Thursday, we went for a wonderful hike with our friends the L family. We went to a park and walked a trail around a reservoir. We saw deer TWICE, green herons, blue herons, white egrets--which are just called "egrets"...but since I was naming the colors on the other birds...!!! Frogs, beetles, birds, ducks, and cormorants. The bushes, flowers, trees, and flowers were all in full glory too! We have had such a nice, cool, and fairly wet summer that everything is blooming so nicely! Even the weeds are beautiful and blooming! I guess the bloom even in the drought summers though!
My favorite part was when the kids made boats out of drift wood and branches and leaves after we finished our picnic lunch! That was really neat!!!
The two boats they made were the so great!!!
