Sonlight Core G
Week 36
Hello Friends!
Two big news events---1)We finished Core G!!! This was our 100th week on Core G, and we're done! The post after this post has our history book list, and only our 'history' books. For example, Sonlight assigned The Phantom Tollboth, and we read it, but I didn't put it in the post because it isn't a "history" book. I'm always looking for book lists, especially listed chronologically, so I put one together to post on this blog for others. Our second news is that Dh is in Italy this week (during our wedding anniversary!). He left on Saturday, and returns on Thursday. He is in Bologna, Italy, but will be traveling around a bit. He is there for work; looking at a machine his company needs. He isn't sure this is the specific machine they will end up buying, but seeing it will help with the decision. The German company, BOSCH, also has a machine they are considering.
The walls still have some wallpaper on them--they had papered on top of paper! Two to three layers of paper! |
I've been painting the basement hall and stairwell this week--two coats. We had to loose access to our computer for two days each time I put a new coat down. We did crawl through the window for emergency's. I want to paint Dd's stairwell next---but I'm having trouble getting her to move out of her room for a few days...can't imagine why!
We had the son of a church friend come and fix our skylight that was leaking, and the skylight that wasn't leaking too---while he was up there! So glad to have that done again---I did it last summer, but the caulk I used didn't hold up to the extreme weather here and it cracked.
Wednesday our church started back it's "Olympians" program; think "Awana" and you are on the same page. A few people had been asking Dd and I to help out with Olympians, and so we went on Wednesday to see if or how we could help. We helped with the "Games" part of their program. I hesitated to officially sign up to do that, knowing my migraines have a mind of their own, but I'll do my best knowing that God has plans that can put migraines down.
We had a good week, Dd's motivation picked back up as soon as she felt better. She did a good job getting a lot of things done by herself---yay! It was our second week back at the Homeschool Building for her classes with the West Michigan Homeschool Fine Arts music classes--and her 1:1 piano lessons with Mrs. March. Dd also had her monthly "Girls Club" on Friday night; they played games and had fun.
Week Off!
We are taking next week OFF from lessons, and are going to see if we can find some FUN things to do---maybe go to Lake Michigan? I don't know...

Dd is totally into this 464 page book, and has been reading it a lot. I'm glad she wasn't daunted by it's size or font.

WEll done on finishing Core G! (And the thought of being in Italy sounds grand.... hope your DH is getting to appreciate some of the local sites and cuisine, and not just work all the time).
ReplyDeleteAppreciate the pictures you've included here :-)
Dying to ask!!! So which core are you thinking of reading through next. We're in planning stage for Daisy (2017 is coming up real fast!)
You'd enjoy being here right now,: Spring time with all it's loveliness. (Which includes broody turkeys. This is the first year we've decided to not have peeps being hatched into our space - the birds may pull a sneaky one on us though.)
Opps. Sorry, for posting a novel :-D
♥
Hello Chelle! Thanks for the congratulations; this was surely an epic core for us! I hope we can breeze through Core H much faster than Core G. Dd does love the World Wars---though that sounds weird to say! But, she really does---my husband and his family are Civil war buff's and Dd also really got into the World Wars. But, I don't think it will be as fascinating for me and I don't think I'll have as much to add-in for H. After Core H, I think we will do Core 100, then 300....at least that is the plan for NOW! I'd love to sit in Core 300 for 2 years!!! How about you guys? Spring---absolutely my favorite season! So wish I could see how you all do spring there...it is so interesting to compare the dirt, soil, trees, air...etc on foreign soil, there just is something so different about each countries unique aspects--even between states here in the US. I pray someday to come knock on your door, and have you invite me in for a cup of tea and a slice of coconut cake!!!!!! Miracles do happen! Broody chickens...oh my! The sounds our broody chicken makes is so weird! It is the craziest sound ever! But, BOY! You get the idea that you are suppose to walk away and not mess with her!!!!! She puff's up all her feathers and makes these warning sounds to us....she is something!!! I hope more chickens don't do that or we will need to build more nest boxes! They are going into each box as pairs sometimes---so funny to see two girls in there together, in a box built for one! Ha! Well, guess who posted a novel back at ya! Hoping to find more time to write you properly soon!!! We pray for you each day!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on finishing Core G!!! WOW!!! That is a lot of work!! Hope you have fun celebrating with a week off!!!! So DH ended up going to Italy on his own, eh? :( hope maybe another trip works out for all of you!!!!
ReplyDeletethere are so many wonderful add-ins for the WW's, and Core H, that I found it difficult to limit what we watched (docs/films), read and listened to (speeches and audiobooks), and church history (so many "controversial" issues to talk about, and heroes of the faith to learn more about). Sorry... starting to rabbit on a bit there (blush).
ReplyDeleteYour plan ahead sounds really good!
Not sure which path to take for next year, as I'll only be organising a history and lit line-up for Daisy; so. I'm still praying over that.
Laughing at your broody chicken stories! God surely made those critters funny for us to enjoy. I love our chickens. Our oldest, called Snow White, is hilarious - she's the most brain dead bird we've ever had!
No that'd be a fun knock on the door! Just don't come in the winter - I don't think NZ showcases itself very well then; well, unless you like rain! damp chills, or snow?
Thank you for your prayers! You are so often in mine too.
