Meijer Sculpture Garden Leonardo Da Vinci horse

Meijer Sculpture Garden
1-30-15

Highlights:
Banana Trees, Bamboo, all sorts of cacti, Carnivorous plants...  The main building had specific garden sanctuaries; room after gigantic room of them.
Cacao Trees

There were THREE sculpture mock-up's of Leonardo Da Vinci's horse on display.  One was around the size of an enlarged hand that told you it was made for people to touch it!  Then a medium sized one to see all the details, and then the large one that was true to the original, that is about the size 'of a two-story building'.

The American Horse

The coolest thing about this Cape Pigeon was that it "wagged" it's tail back and forth like a pendulum the whole time...The tail never stopped going back and forth.  I've never seen a bird do this before---very interesting.

Tom Otterness

Mad Mom

This is a bronze Deborah Butterfield, there was a smaller wooden horse inside the building too.  We saw quite a few sculptures inside--Rodin, Lichtenstein, Segals, Lipchitz, Degas, etc.

Lying Man

There was a flock of Rock Pigeons flying around the grounds and periodically stopping at feeders for a snack.  It was beautiful watching them fly in unison.

It should be noted that we probably saw 25% of what this place has to offer!  We did go through and see the newest exhibit:
Splendors of Shiga: Treasures from Japan
