Sonlight Core G Week 6 "A" (LOW) Nov. 24-30, 2014

Sonlight Core G
Week 6 "A" (LOW)
Nov. 24-30, 2014

We had a very nice, short week regarding our lessons.  Wednesday, Pappa's parents arrived for their first real visit with us in Michigan.  Pappa found them a hotel to spend two nights, fairly close to us.  Dd and I did lessons Monday through Wednesday.  Monday's are never highly productive for us, but we did the best we could considering Dd's suffers from "Monday-itis"!  That is my name for the syndrome of 'blah' that happens just about every Monday with Dd!  It is so dependable and reliable each Monday!  It is a good thing that I know what to expect each Monday and never plan for that day to be very academic!

I had TWO doctor appointments this week, and believe I have been blessed with finding a new doctor for us.  She seemed really smart, informed, and let me talk about my problems...and she had an idea of new medicine to try for my migraines!  She also prefaced it with saying that many insurance companies won't agree to allow it, so we will have to wait and see if it will be an option for me, or not.  Don't you love how our insurance company's get to decide which medications we can or can't take---not our doctors!  I really have such strong feelings about this subject, but my feelings are probably not something you want to hear!  But, I've been suffering SO much after having to give up another medication that was working SO well for me, b/c my insurance wouldn't allow it either.  Moving on now...

We are getting into a habit of taking snow hikes each day; though Dd skipped Saturday and Sunday!  But, I am very happy to find an outlet for me to be outside, surrounded by trees.  Plus, there is a wonderful CRANE that lives right where we walk, and it has flown away from us twice this week.  We really get a great look at it when it is flying away.  In Indiana, we always had cranes on the little reserve pond right beside our house, and would get to watch them all the time.  It is great having a crane here too!  I just love those big birds!!!

Wednesday night, Dd wanted to dissect the deer heart that Pappa had brought back for her.  So, Giz got right in the kitchen with her (and me, too) to help and watch.  I put a post below this post with pictures.

We have been busy beavers, working on our Christmas presents!  I will do a post in a day or two with pictures of our progress.  I finished the gift for my mom, and the two stuffed animal chipmunks for my two nephews, and started on a scarf for my MIL, "Giz", and bought the  yard for the Camo Blanket that Pappa asked for, for his Christmas gift.

Veritas Chronicles through Malachi Enhanced SET--Enhanced CD and Cards (Bible)

Bible:
We are using Veritas Press's bible program, and enjoy it SO much.  It really is a jumping off place for us.  It gives assignments, and suggests we use a Children's Bible; but we use our own bible, plus I've added in a bible commentary that I've found VERY informative.  Plus, we add in other resources too; but VP schedules it out for us, and we can add lots more to it than they plan (sort of like how we do Sonlight).

She is making a flower with glue and newspaper, she made five or six wire pieces that I took pictures of and posted already - see below.  She has been crocheting a lime green cotton hat, and a Charcoal Gray "surprise" Christmas gift, but won't say much about it, I think it must be for either Pappa or me..Shhh!

Thanksgiving November 27, 2014

Happy Thanksgiving
November 27, 2014

Of course, Dd took about 50 pictures of the lobsters!  I've just put in a few for fun.

In our apartment, our kitchen/living room/dining room/library all share the same space!  We made due with what we had to enjoy the day with Pappa's parents.

Dd enjoyed "dissecting" her lobster!  She looked up lobster anatomy online to help her identify the parts!

After eating, we all were ready for a nice hike in the woods beside our apartments.

Dd found this cool hornets nest in the woods.

Dd found a 'lean-to' in the woods too.

Seriously, have you EVER seen fatter or "fluffier" squirrels in your life???!!!!  It actually has rolls of fat!  We will have up to six squirrels at our "bird feeders" at a time.  Sometimes there will be TWO squirrels on ONE feeder!  They should be called Hog Squirrels!!!!

Dissection of Deer Heart - November 26, 2014

Dissection of Deer Heart
 November 26, 2014

Before we actually dissected the deer heart that Pappa brought home from his hunting trip, we went to youtube to see a few video's on how we should do this....We were very lucky in finding a really great video, that I'd like to share:
"Deer Heart Dissection by Huschle" 14:03
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rVo-fhMlTM0

Here are the "Heart Strings"--literally!

Dd kept working and looking at different things under our stereo microscope for about an hour.  She thought she might be grossed out by this, but found that this was actually "very interesting!".

Busy Hands November 17-21, 2014

Busy Hands
November 17-24, 2014

Here are some of the projects Dd has been working on this week.  The burlap bag that she sewed on and added the crocheted handle strap onto, was again re-worked, a oak leaf was sewn on the front, and two pockets were sewn on the side, with a decorative "i" on top.  The top pocket fits her Ipod Nano perfectly.

This is a Ranger's Apprentice "oak leaf"-- I guess it makes more sense if you are reading the Ranger's Apprentice series of books!

Dd has been working on some wire projects:
