Indiana State Fair 2014
Monday Dd and I drove back to Indiana after having lunch with Dh (that is the perk of Michigan so far---eating lunch and dinner with him). When we arrived, it looked like it was going to rain and I had planned to mow. So, I got right on it and started mowing. My neighbor, Ms. Linda, came over to ask me 'what's going on...are you moving?'!!!! I guess the for sale sign in my front yard tipped her off! We talked for 45 minutes and got things all settled. We both thought it was such a hard knowing how to approach your neighbors--do you "mind your own business' or come knocking on the door? I told 2 of my neighbors fairly quickly that we were moving, but I wasn't sure how to approach the others and assumed they would figure it out. But, it is one of those etiquette things that I just wasn't sure what to do!
Tuesday morning at 10 am, our friends, the "L" family came and picked us up for the big day at the fair. We saw a lot of the 4H buildings right away. We walked through the building full of donkey's--that was very fun!!! The horses "weren't in yet"---I guess different livestock take turns being at the fair.
There were so many of these specimen shadow boxes! It was great to see...I just wish I knew if they found all those insects or if they bought them???
Every year we try to watch the spay or neuter demonstration at the fair. This year was a 8 month female named, Marabell!
All the children watched the operation and did fine with it...
The annual cheese sculpture
I'd love to try Rug-hooking...every year I look at this and just want to give it a try! One of these days.....
The animal barns are always so much fun! This rooster was crowing so loud.
The Pioneer village---what fun to see all the craftspeople showing their skills!
We saw a show on Golden Eagles--very good show!
Dd got to fish at the DNR area--didn't catch anything, but had fun!
My dear friend and me!
The "Midway" where all the rides are. Last year, for the first time, Dh, Dd, and I rode the Ferris Wheel. This year Dd got to ride/drive the Bumper Cars (twice)! Then we all rode the Ferris Wheel together 11 people in one pod!
Dd having her first Bumper Car rides!! Her first car/ride didn't work well, but the second time around worked out fine!
"R" on the Ferris Wheel ride---

This is a great post with so many great things!!! Too many to comment on each one!!! Specifically, it is great to see a picture of you with your friend!! What a great memory for you both! Also, thank you for listing out the items you carried in you pack. That will be very helpful for us soon. We also have a camel pack so we can use that option as well.
ReplyDeleteYay!!! It was a wonderful day!!!!! Love the picture of Larkin carrying Laura. :) Also thought how beautiful the picture of the hay baling is -- all that golden hay on the ground and the blue sky. Love the picture of you and me. I should have one printed.
