Hospital-- July 23-27, 2012

Click on "May 15" (on the side bar) to see updated garden pix as the summer goes on you can see how our garden is growing!

Dd has had her first (and hopefully ONLY) experience at the hospital--Diagnosed with severe dehydration, leukocytosis, and pneumonia.

After VBS we were wiped out---and I mean completely wiped out.  Sat. and Sun. Dd was really sick and not doing well.  Mon. she was so sick she wasn't moving much.  Mon. night she got worse; and we decided in the wee early morning to take her into the doc's office in the morning (it was such a horrible night that I won't go into the details).

Our doc was out for the day; but another doctor-- Doctor Johnson--saw her and said she needed to go to the ER immediately. She had a fever of 103.5 at the doc's office. I didn't know which hospital to go to; and needed to call Dh.  So, I said I would go home and call Dh.  She said I could use their phone!  I was so surprised she let us use her phone; I didn't think people let you use their phones anymore.  I missed our normal doc (Doctor Abell); but I was glad she sent us to the ER.

I called Dh and he said we needed to go to Hendricks Regional Hospital in Danville.   It took us hours of testing.  Dd was a real trooper with the needles and IV's.  I thought she would throw a fit; but she was so sick that it all went okay.  She would fall asleep between nurse visits and interactions.  We had a really loud nurse and she would always wake Dd up.

I think around 4pm we were moved into the pediatric section of the hospital.  We had a really good nurse named Ashley.  I have a lot of complaints about it; but I won't go into all that here.  The most important thing is that they got us the right medicine and got her on it quickly.  We had a long night.  The next day, I could see an immediate improvement with Dd.  We stayed the day and they re-did the blood work to make sure she was really better.  She was 26,000 on Tues and 14,000 on Wed which is a great improvement- I think that is was the white blood count numbers.

We got in the van at 5pm and headed home. After 2 days in the hospital I was so ready to be home; and Dd was even more excited. Dh's parents drove down on Tue to see Dd and take care of our dog while I was at the hospital.  They stayed until Fri. to visit with Dd; they hadn't visited us in a few months.

I am glad she is better.  Thanking the good Lord for her renewed health.
