June 25-29, 2012 Week 66 of no SL

Part one of June 25-29th, 2012
What we did in our lessons this week!

We didn't get as much done on our lessons this week; but Dd did participate in a "5-Day Bible Club".   The first three days were held in an outside shelter; then the last 2 days were held inside due to the extreme heat.

Besides the M-F Bible Club, we had"Lunch Bunch"(where our town gives away a book-or three and a free lunch to children who show up wanting books to read), Arbuckle Park,  church,  our Library, 2-3 bike rides around the ponds in our neighborhood while I walked our dog, and a "Pampered Chef" evening party- big week!!

Cracking Open A Geode!
Both girls had a chance to use the hammer

Each girl took a piece of the geode home as a keepsake

This was the busiest week we have had in a long time!
Monday-lessons/biking/gardening
Tuesday we went to Brownsburg’s Lunch Bunch; and invited a df to come back home and play and swim with us at our neighborhood pool.  We also biked.
Wednesday we had our lessons, then biked and Dd played the piano.
Thursday we drove out to Plainfield for the Lunch Bunch at Franklin Park.
Went to the Avon Blood Center and I donated blood; and then went home for a quick dinner.  Then Dd and I volunteered our evening working at our church's food pantry called "The Giving Tree".  We bagged up about a weeks worth of food for about 7 families.  We put away newly donated food and clothing.  We had a great time; but were tired by the end of the evening.
Friday we picked up RL and took her with us to the BPL to watch a free movie "Monsters, Inc" by Pixar.
Then Dd made FLOUR TORTILLAS from scratch using this book:

Read Aloud-- Beware!  This book (recommended by Steve Padewia-IEW-) needed LOTS of on the fly editing.  I don't recommend this book unless you are very prepared to edit--I did get the point that Steve was trying to make-about finding creative and fun words to replace boring words--good point; tough book: Politically Correct Bedtime Stories by James Finn Garner.

5 new jars of low sugar blueberry jam
Activities--Tuesday we went to the Brownsburg "Lunch Bunch" with some friends.  Then after we went to Arbuckle Park and played in the stream--lots of fun.

We had a nice bike ride too.  Thursday was the 4H- Orienteering/ Geo-Caching at Hummel Park--lots of fun and we learned how to use a compass and bought one for us to use too.
....

Failure experiment--shaving cream and food coloring

We tried this word of mouth experiment - and somehow did it wrong:

4 simple ingredients-jar, dye, shaving cream, and time.

Maybe we put too much shaving cream on top of the jar?!

The blue was suppose to turn the foam (shaving cream) blue and drip down like RAIN---nope; it didn't happen.  This picture was 40 minutes after waiting---and it didn't change.
