SL Week 31 (63rd week on this core) March 12-16th, 2012

SL Week 31

A usual SL IG format for us; with a few add-in's.  We actually got a lot accomplished this week (even with the extra warm weather around us!).  For SL we had our bible and Dd had her Discover's Bible.  The books we are working on are Imprisoned in the Golden City, Naya Nuki and Calico Bush.    Dd read the Naya Nuki book on her own; but I read aloud IITGC and CB books.  Both we very good.

We enjoyed: "A Child's Introduction to Poetry" and "American Indian Prayer Guide".

We did a good job on the "Sing the Word: Great in Counsel and Mighty in Deed" cd and on our add-in cd from Giz: "Praise and Worship" "O Come Let Us Adore Him" was our featured song this week.

We fit in more focus on adverbs...I'm having Dd repeat the definition a few times each day for the past 2 weeks to really understand how adverbs work.  We added in the book: "Adverbs-The Magic of Language" by Ann Heinrichs.

We started another Lamplighter book this week: Buried In the Snow by Franz Hoffman.  Lamplighter has such a FANTASTIC collection of books!

SL Core D- Week 28 "A" LOW (week 56 on this core) Jan. 30th to Feb. 3rd 2012

Since I went to the LHE Women's Retreat over the weekend; we had a lot of errands to do during our school week.   We didn't get as much done as we usually do; but Dd did have a really good attitude this week.  On Wed. while she was doing her Teaching Textbooks (TT) she got out a piece of paper to take notes:
"The answer is called the quotent.  The number you're dividing is called the divident.  The number you're dividing by is called the divisor.
             15     /         3  =     5
dividend  /  divisor=   quotent"

I was happy to see she also successfully used contractions!
Then on Thursday she finished her book: Riding Freedom by Pam Munoz Ryan.  She really enjoyed this book tremendously.  After she closed the book she asked me to write down some details about the book for her.  I told her she should write the things down herself; and that I would find a nice notebooking/fancy page for her to write on.  Then she wrote down a little synopsis about the book!!!  She has never done anything like that before.  Two days in a row she took NOTES!  How wonderful!  And on her own!!!  No help .... at all!  I was so pleased I went to my closet and found a little gift that I had been holding for such an occation.  She earned a new jump rope!  She jumped so much on Thursday night she had a limp on Friday!!!  Now to our lessons:

Bible: Ruth & "Who is God?" by Apologia

Dd is #22

Dd had another Basketball practice on Mon.  night; and a game on Sat.   She got a "star" to iron on to her shirt for her offense and rebounding.  She scored 2 points; which is the first time she has made points; except for getting points b/c the other team had fouled her.  She also made a lot of rebounds and made a jump-ball.  I had been working with her on fighting more for the ball.  Sometimes Dd just lets the other team have the ball if they were going for it; like you would if you were playing with friends. She improved her ability to fight for the ball.

#22 is looking for the ball!

These are some pictures from Sat.'s basketball game.  This week they beat this team that had previously trounced them!  It was a good redemptive game!

She's got the ball--watch out!
