Core G Week 20 "A"
Middle Ages
BiblioPlan Wk 6
Jan.18-23, 2016
66th Week on this Core
This is the felt figure Dd made last week of "Rey" from Star Wars, the Force Awakens.

I had a really hard time getting a good picture of it...

We had a pretty good week, and I kept Science near the top of our priority list.  I thought we had finished the Veritas Press assignments, but when I looked it again, I realized we still had a few more things to do before we closed the door on our three year study of the Old Testament.  But, on Wednesday we started our new book Veritas Press (VP) "Gospels" which started us off in the book of Luke.  Ah...it feels good to be back in the New Testament.

We did FOUR Science experiments this week! I think it helped that I made Monday and Tuesday "science" days, since Wednesday and Thursday are really packed with outside activities.  I will try to stick with that format as we go forward.

Dd had "chair testing" in band this week.  She is super excited to see if she got to move up.  She is in the last chair, and so she can only possibly go up!  What a good place to be!!  Choir class went well too.

Thursday was our homeschool co-op day, and we had a pretty good time there.  We invited the other new family back over to our house for lunch and a visit.  This was their third visit...so Heather L., I am trying to show others the hospitality you showed me how to do!  So thankful for our friendship!  You certainly have helped me to grow in that area, and I am glad.

Health wise...my GERD issues were awful this week, as I tried to go off of my meds.  I've been reading a lot, and am trying to find some supplements that can help me digest food and prevent so much heartburn and reflux.

SNOW...lots of shoveling!  But, today Dh managed to fix-fix the snow blower!!!  He was able to actually get it to work for a good while and then put it up when he was done!

We have spent two weeks on this lesson and Dd feels good about it, and tested well on it, so we will move on to Lesson 9 next week.

Speaking of math....I was talking to some other homeschool mom's about our math difficulties and we had a really good conversation.  With all four of us talking about it, I came to the conlusion that I don't need to throw in the towel on Math U See (MUS), (which I was thinking about doing) but accept that we are going to be going at this very slow pace for as long as it takes to get through Algebra.  Dd had moved through all the other MUS books so quickly that I was not sure why this book was so much more difficult that I was really thinking that we needed a new curriculum.  I'm glad that I had the opportunity to discuss our math difficulties with other homeschool mothers.
