Core H Book List: Completed after 60 weeks! Sept.19, 2016-Nov.10, 2017

Core H Book List:

2015-2016: Core G, Part 1 of 2, of World History was stretched out to 7th & 8th grade as we added in a bunch of books because my Dd's loves to learn about the Greeks.

2016-2017:  Core H, Part 2 of 2, of World History is for our 9th grade, and the first few months of 10th grade.  Sonlight has done a great job of picking really good "living books" in each of their cores (packages).  Each core is a combination of history, bible, literature, poetry, and geography.

Spine Books:
Story of the World by Bauer
Mystery of History
BiblioPlan (Medieval and Early Modern History)
Kingfisher History Encyclopedia
George Washington’s World by Genevieve Foster
Abraham Lincoln’s World by Genevieve Foster

History Reader/Read Aloud’s: Some of these books were in SL's older versions of Core H, which were removed when they updated their current Core H.  Some of the books were not part of SL's core, but we decided they should be part of "OUR" Core H!  We can add-in books that we want to and use SL as our map of going through history reading.

Poetry:
Painless Poetry by Francis McPake (Dd didn't like, this was SL's poetry book for this core)

**(I have to note that Great Expectations, which had been in SL's previous line-up, but was dropped in the more current versions, was such a FANTASTIC book!  My Dd learned SO much by reading Dickens.  She commented how reading Dickens showed her how other books are shallow in their characters and settings.  Dickens really is so worth the time it takes to read, and I highly recommend taking the time to read.  We've read A Christmas Carol, a few times, but I have to say that Great Expectations makes A Christmas Carol look pale in comparison.)
Les Miserable by Victor Hugo
