Sandhill Crane's on March 7th, 2014

Sandhill Crane's on March 7th, 2014 We spent Friday outside, enjoying the gorgeous weather and were treated to an unexpected surprise....Sandhill Crane migration!  Groupings are called "siege's" - at least that is what I found when I did an internet search today.  I have no idea how many siege's went past us---20? or more, in the 4 hours we were outside.  It is hard to image how many birds flew over our area on Friday!

I took a few pictures that weren't very good; and then Dd took some that you can actually make out the birds!!!  How does she do that?  They are SO UP HIGH!  Our camera doesn't have a big zoom; so I don't know how she got such good photo's!  Here are a few pictures of the Sandhill Crane's passing over our backyard....which means SPRING is on it's way!!!

Here are a few images I got from the internet - so you can see what they really look like:

  1. Again, I am learning new things. The Sandhill Crane has a very interesting flight formation. You both got some really great photos. It is very difficult to get a photo of birds while they are flying! I really like how I can see the way they stretch their feet out - what a streamline bird when they fly. They are amazing creatures of God.
